Fuse's Downfall Prologue

Sometimes the universe is in the brink of destruction, and we don't even know it. Right now, chances are that far away in a part of space that we have never heard of, there is a power that is on a conquest of the galaxy. That power could be closer than we could have possibly imagined...

"What are you talking about Dexy?", the voice of the girl said as she read her computer screen in the dim lit room. She typed in the question, hoping that her internet friend would stop worrying.

The screen replied to her:
Dexyman42: I haven't wanted to tell you this AJ, but I am a boy genius, and I own a laboratory downtown called DexLabs. Have you heard of it?
OrangeHeart: Well I always knew you were smart, but I live in the suburbs. I've never been to the city.
Dexyman42: Technically, I live in the suburbs too. Anyway, we are in grave danger tomorrow, I sent a hero through time when I first discovered the threat two months ago, but there was a complication, and he was sent too far into the future by mistake. It was my stoopid sister's fault!
OrangeHeart: Tomorrow? Wait a minute... YOU INVENTED TIME TRAVEL?
Dexyman42: Yes, but lets not focus on that now. Tomorrow the world will be invaded by aliens, and I know this is unorthadox, but I could use a trusted friends assistance. Can you come meet me here at the labs?
OrangeHeart: Of course!
Dexyman42: Please hurry, you don't want to be out in the open when the meteors hit. The planet has launched them as a preliminary strike before taking a planet. I can explain more when you get here, but if my calculations are correct, the hero will arrive here in Tech Square in about two weeks. In that amount of time, the world may already be completely destroyed, we must look for a new hero now!
OrangeHeart: The world will be destroyed in two weeks? I'll come right away!

She glanced up at the TV, watching her favorite cartoon heroines, the Powerpuff Girls, fly across the screen.

"Heroes, eh?", she said to herself glancing back at the computer.

-Dexyman42 is busy and will be replaced by a bot at this time-
OrangeHeart: Aw, your always busy. Well, I'll get going then.
Dexybot42: Lovely weather we are having, do you agree with this statement?
OrangeHeart: Considering the weather is about to be meteors of evil aliens, no... No I don't.

And with that she ran out into the night, leaving the TV on in her hurry.

Meanwhile, a new planet was entering the outer edges of the galaxy...

"We will no longer be looked down upon my brothers!", said the big alien supervising, "We are not just a worthless ball of goo, like our neighbor planets think. They have all gone on conquests laughing at us, but not anymore, we are about to prove our strength by absorbing our neighbor galaxy"

The alien stood upon a cliff, overlooking an army of goo people that were marching through the valley, on a hump of soil surrounded by a sea of goo. It appeared as though this was what was left of smaller planet, sinking into the goo planet.

"Lord Fuse will guide us, with him we are assured victory!", the alien continued his morale-boosting speech.

The marching army of goo people was quite a sight, they were bald, and had no distinguishing characteristics at all, besides the fact that they looked somewhat like humans. The humonoid marched until they got to a place with a tower in the center of four large metal cylindrical buildings sticking out of the goo ocean, as they could walk on as if it was solid ground.

"Go Replicors, you know your mission", the supervisor alien said, "Make your Lord proud"

They split up into four big groups and each group entered one of the metal cylinder buildings, as the supervisor walked into the tower. The supervisor then walked up to a large control computer inside the tower and entered commands. Outside of the tower, four massive pipes emerged from the goo ocean.

With the click of a button, the pipes each fired a meteor, apparently being giant cannons. The meteors flew directly towards our planet, and it seemed that each of them were carrying those "Replicors" inside them as passengers.

The world is surely doomed if a hero isn't found...

Chapter 1: Our Story Begins!

It seemed like any other morning, calm, quiet, with the faint scent of bacon making its way into your room. I got up and opened the window blinds to wake myself up, like I always do. But today as I looked out the window, and over my empty swiming pool. I saw a giant brown wall of cardboard, which was very irratating because that made the sun not shine into my room. I groaned and fell back on my bed still sleepy because the sun wasn't there to wake me up. It didn't even occur to me that there shouldn't be a giant cardboard wall there in the first place for at least ten minutes.

I got my breakfast and headed outside to go find those Ed boys, I knew they were up to something again, but what could it be this time? When I got outside I immediatly realized that there was a cardboard tent in our front yard, seemingly pointless because nobody was even in it. Then I looked around and noticed the big picture, it was just scenery for a giant castle scheme. And down the road, in the center of the cul-de-sac, a giant throne, and the Ed boys all standing in a row. Of course Eddy was on the throne and the others wouldn't debate, he always pushed them around. So I went to stand in the mob of complainers that surrounded them.

"Step right up for a culinary trip to chef castle", Eddy yelled out trying to ignore the crowd's anger, "The food is right over there folks, we got baguettes, buns, and well just normal bread if thats what your into!"

"Rolf cannot eat just bread silly Ed boy! Rolf demands substinance not all this pumpernickel you speak of!", Rolf replied in anger.

"Snug as a bug in a rug Double D", said Ed quite randomly.

"Yeah dude this is pretty lame", added in Kevin, "You expect us to pay a quarter to just eat bread?"

Eddy smirked and said, "No dweebs you have to pay a quarter for stepping into my castle, this land is mine so make with the quarters!"

"Your land is the entire cul-de-sac Eddy? So your telling me I have to pay you to step out into my yard?", said Naz casually.

"Naz does have a point Eddy, your rationality is questionable", Edd said in a quiet, uneasy demeanor.

"Put a cork in it sockhead!", Eddy yelled as the crowd got louder.

I knew joining the arguement would get me nowhere at this point so I decided to take Edd to the side and question him about how much longer he was going to go along with the scams, I mean he can't just follow along with Eddy's crazy schemes forever can he? No the world must change sometimes! Little did I know, the world was going to change. It was going to change alot...

I noticed right away that something was not quite right with Edd, I mean he was always timid but not like this. I could see both fear and discovery in his eyes.

"Double D is something wrong?", I asked, "Your not usually like this"

"Oh is it that obvious?", he asked in desperation.

"Not to people who don't know you as well as I do," I laughed, "Well what is it then?"

He stared at me in the most serious way, and said, "Have you ever thought... Well have you ever thought there might be a world outside our cul-de-sac?"

"Well yes but why should we bring this up now, we are only kids you know, and we are going to stay that way for a very long...

"No!", he interupted, "No not the workforce, I mean just other neighborhoods, and city's, and well..." he stopped for a moment trying to catch his breath, "P-planets"

"What are you getting at Double D?" I said, getting quite impatient.

"Just last night I saw a bright green star when I was looking through my telescope, at least I think it was a star, and I believe it is coming towards us! Now you know I don't believe in Ed's silly alien books, but I have a really bad feeling about this. You see the other stars around it seem to be getting closer to it, like it's pulling them in!", Edd took a long pause to think, and I just stared in amasement.

"We are going to need to leave the cul-de-sac for the first time in our lives, we need to go and find help, before it's too late! I entrust this task to you. Let me think of what we need to do, in the meantime, lets make sure that mob doesn't beat up Eddy... or worse..."

Extremely confused, I went back over to the crowd of yelling kids around "King Eddy's Throne". I didn't know what to think about all this, but if its one thing I did know... You can trust Double D!

So here I was stuck with defending Eddy, when even I wanted to show him what the other kind of jawbreaker looked like. Lucky for him, I was a pacifist by nature and I was good friends with both Ed and Double D.

"Alright people calm down, we all know Eddy is just joking. He doesn't actually have any of our quarters yet, so lets just settle down", I said calmly as I started towards Edd.

At that moment Edd called out, "Hey Rolf and Green, may I have a moment with you two? I may have formed a plan", as the rest of the calmed crowd went back to playing in their yards.

"Hey not cool man!", Eddy started to yell out, "Do you have any idea how hard it was to get all this cardboard? These scams are hard work you-", he cut his sentence short as he saw my hand reach into my wallet to pull out 3 dollars. I tossed the money towards him and he dove for it.

"Yeah I know you know how hard they are, and they pay off too! You know anytime I can get you anything, say cardboard, markers, you name it, just keep that cash comin!" He said raising one of his eyebrows, he was trying to attempt some kind of cool look to replace a wink I believe.

I ignored him and joined Rolf and Edd. It appeared Double D had drawn a map of the cul-de-sac, showing just how little we really knew about the land area we lived in. He wanted to find help for us and to do that, we needed to know more of our own surroundings. Rolf was given the duty of gathering up the Urban Rangers, and scattering them around in all directions from us, scouting out the land area and then coming back and filling in more of the map.

"This looks like a really good plan Double D", I said with enthusiasm, "However I think we need some better communication here, all this walking will get very tiring for all of us. This is a little less than 30 kids we are talking about in Rolf's Urban Ranger force"

"Your quite right my friend, which is why I have started drawing up plans for a new wrist-watch-like device, called the nanocom or mini-communicator. However to make these devices we will actually need some mechanical parts, which is one of the things we are scouting out to find. Untill then we are going to use what we have", Edd replied knowingly.

"Then what do we have brainy Edd boy?", asked Rolf hopelessly.

Edd sighed and said, "Well we have three old walkie-talkies, I'm going to have one on me, and I'm giving these two to you guys. Rolf, leading the exploration force, me being the guide, and Green watching over the cul-de-sac's well-being. The rest of the Urban Rangers will just have to walk back every once and a while"

"Understood!", me and Rolf said together, and immediately he went to gather his Ranger "troops", what we called them at the moment.

I decided to go back to talk to Ed and Eddy, still caught up in the excitement of team effort. I could tell this was going to be a very long day!

Chapter 2: The Rangers Return!

Ed and Eddy were having some kind of conversation, which meant that Eddy was bragging and Ed was chiming in with random statements. Therefore it really wasn't a conversation at all.

"You know I never really noticed how well my awesome castle would keep the Kankers out untill just now!", Eddy said with a smirk.

Ed wasn't really looking at Eddy, or anything really, he just smiled to himself and said, "A castle today keeps the Kankers away, Eddy!"

"I wonder how many words you can actually hear me say you big lug", Eddy questioned him, "Sometimes it's like your talking to an imaginary friend or something the way you stare off like that"

Ed continued to look in the same awkward direction, but frowned slightly. It almost looked like he was thinking, but I was almost positive he wasn't. I looked down the road leading out of the cul-de-sac, and noticed there were two giant wooden doors, one of them had the start of a familiar face painted on it. A little bald kid was scaling the door from a rope, painting on the second eyeball. I walked down the road, and Johnny noticed I was coming immediately.

"Hey buddy!", he said letting out one of his short pig-like laughs, "Wanna help me make a mommy and daddy for Plank? He's over there painting too!"

I looked down to where he was pointing to see his best friend Plank just leaning against the door, not really getting anything done.

"Uhm, no thanks Johnny. I'm kind of doing something for Double D right now. But it looks like you guys are doing a great job here!", I said trying not to make him feel bad.

"Oh... Well okay" Johnny said frowning.

I could tell that over the years growing up that he had known Plank was just his imagination for a little over a year now. But he just kept going along with it because nobody else ever hung out with him. I felt really bad for the guy, but I couldn't be his friend. He distanced himself from us too much with that stupid piece of wood. In my thought I had somehow not noticed a little girl with orange hair walk up to me wearing a Buttercup scout uniform, because she was standing so close to me, almost like she just appeared in front of my feet. I had never seen her before but she looked to be three, maybe four years younger than the rest of us. About Jimmy's age I believe.

"Hello", I said as politely as I could, "I don't believe I've ever seen you before"

"I'm not from around here, I live near the beach", she said, "But thats not important, anyways my name is Suzie. I'm looking for a tall guy, pretty muscular, and has the coolest blonde hair!", she said excitedly, "Have you seen him anywhere? I've been trying to sell Johnny some cookies all day and chased him all the way down here"

"No I'm afraid not, but right now we have explorers sent out, we will tell you if we come across him", I said in a weird tone. Something struck me weird about this girl. For one thing, her story sounded really odd, why would she chase down one person to sell cookies to, when there are tons of others she passed by that would like cookies.

It looked as if most of the Urban Rangers had made it back in the cul-de-sac, and were gathering around Edd. I decided to head over there to see what Rolf's Rangers had found out, Double D's talk about other worlds amused me. Little Suzie had been out there, who knows what else might lurk outside these walls?

I figured it was almost time for me to leave the cul-de-sac myself own, so waving as I passed Ranger Joey in his yard, I turned to go get some things from my house telling Suzie to go look for the funny accented boy with blue hair. He would be more help than I was to her.

As I opened my door I heard the familiar tune of my favorite superhero show coming from the TV:

"And they'll be fighting crime, trying to save the world, here they come just in time, the Powerpuff Girls!", my TV sung out, as I noticed the remote laying on the couch.

"Why would Sis leave the TV during The Powerpuff Girls?", I said out loud to myself.

The Powerpuff Girls was one of my favorite shows. If only superheroes were real, espiecially my favorite, Bubbles. She was the cutest superhero that ever existed. But I sighed because I knew that it was only a TV show, superheroes weren't real. Still it was fun to dream! If anybody I knew was a superhero, it was Double D. He was the kindest most helpful person, maybe not to me, but I saw him and how he helped the other kids out. I half wondered where my little sister was in the middle of the day like this but I tried not to think about it as I grabbed my favorite dark green hoodie, and headed back outside. I grabbed my red bike that I hardly ever used, if I was going exploring for a long time, I definately wasn't walking. It was laying on a few cardboard boxes to the side of the house. As i walked towards Edd, Rolf, Suzie, and the Rangers, I could already start to hear Rolf's speech. I was hoping Sis was with them.

"No I have not seen your big in the chest Johnny boy", Rolf told Suzie, confused as to what Johnny she was talking about, "Johnny has no hair, Rolf sees he is balder than a monkeys uncle!"

Suzie frowned as Rolf started again, "Okay Rangers we have scouted out the area and now Ranger McBloo will report the findings!"

McBloo Ace had the 2nd most badges in the entire Ranger force, and Rolf liked to involve him in things, for being a simple farm boy from the country had taught him not be jealous or highly competitive. Rolf would not mind if even someday Ranger McBloo ended up having more badges then him. It would make him proud that he trained such a worthy Ranger.

"Okay directly outside our doors to the west, there is a mall in a big neighborhood called Pokey Oaks", started Ranger McBloo, "We think there should be a school in that area for all those houses but haven't located it yet. To the south is just a tiny neighborhood, but importantly their is a metal hover-bus line being built there, they say it leads to the city, but they are not done building it yet. To the southeast, a big junkyard. We have reports that the ground shakes near there so I would advise staying out. To the east there is some type of rich-person house being built, and north of there is a mansion said to, get this, house imaginary friends for adoption! We thought Johnny was crazy all these years but hey maybe he isn't!"

At that moment, gears started turning in Ed's head. He was still staring at the same spot in the sky thinking. And he thought:

"Get this, house imaginary friends for adoption!"
"Sometimes it's like your talking to an imaginary friend the way you stare off like that"
"Snug as bug in a rug Double D!"
"With some gravy... gravy... the way you stare off like that... for adoption... imaginary friends... gravy... bug in a rug... stare off like that..."

"And I", McBloo Ace continued, "Went into the dangerous Kankerlands to the north to see what was on the other side of the trailer park. Unfortunately, there was only unscalable mountains back there"

He finished talking and Ed's body finally caught up with his mind, or something like that, because at that moment Ed opened his mouth about 2 feet, and yelled out, "Imaginary friends Eddy! Imaginary friends!", he then charged through the back of the castle leaving a Ed shaped hole in the cardboard.

"Aw man!", Eddy yelled out, "Now look what I have to fix!"

I got on my bike, and a few others followed my notion. Kevin seemed to pull out his bike from thin-air, and Ranger McBloo got on the back seat of his bike.

"Green, don't forget to look for mechanical pieces for the nanocom while your gone!", Edd cried out desperately, as the three of us sped after Ed.

"I won't forget Double D!", I yelled back.

I was finally out of the cul-de-sac, and filled with the excitement of adventure!

Chapter 3: Goat's Junkyard

As we biked after Ed along the park's electric fence, I took a moment to admire Ed's speed. Somehow he managed to run the speed of our bikes, even with extremely bad posture, and laughing the whole way. Seemed to me that the empty space in his head somehow gave him a third lug, allowing him to run and laugh at the same time without losing breath. Then, there came a splash and the laughter stopped.

"Aw! He went into the river, now what will we do?", exclaimed McBloo.

Ed emerged from the water on the other side, just as he had entered: Laughing, running at a backwards sort-of slant, with his arms flailing behind him.

"Through the park!", Kevin yelled, "There's was a road bridge over there on Rolf's map. Ain't no way I'm trusting that rickety Kanker bridge!"

We sped through the park, and up ahead I saw the two floating bars that must have been the new hover-bus rails. We turned right, onto the road as a floating yellow hover-car passed by. I thought about how much times had changed in the last few years, as we biked over the bridge. Oh how good it felt to see new things, I had the feeling that I wanted to go out and see the whole world, just take a vacation or something like that.

"Man I gotta get me one of those cars!", Kevin said smugly, "Naz would be so impressed"

Me and McBloo rolled our eyes, as the junkyard came into view on the right. Edd's voice repeated in my head again:

"Green don't forget... mechanical parts!"
"I won't forget Double D!"

I signaled to Kevin to split up and McBloo jumped off Kevins bike and followed me.

"Don't worry you two, I'll keep an eye on Ed. Meet me at that imaginary house when your done!", he sped off to the left.

I started walking my bike to the junkyard. I didn't want to make McBloo walk when I wasn't. So together we made our way towards the mounds of metal scraps that surrounded the two abandoned buildings, though we already felt the ground shaking as we approached.

I was not so sure about what I was doing I'll admit. I mean, would there even be anything here that wasn't broken? McBloo wasn't unsure at all though, he walked onward with the look of a warrior. I had the feeling he would be one when he was older, after all, he had managed to get all those badges, and now he walks with bravery when I stand questioning myself. I wasn't an Urban Ranger, but I did know that it took some work to get those badges! Perhaps I should be less like Double D, and go with my instincts more, like Rangers McBloo and Rolf.

"For the Nanocom", McBloo said in a determined, trying to reassure me, ending my thought process.

"Right", I replied, putting on a fake determined look.

We walked through the rusty arch that somebody had built out of the scrap that read, Goat's Junkyard. At that moment the walkie-talkie in my pocket clicked.

"Green have you gotten Ed yet?", said the staticed voice of Edd.

"That's a negative Double D", I replied, "Me and McBloo stopped in the Junkyard for the Nanocom pieces. Don't worry though, Kevin is still following him."

"Don't worry?", he asked in a very worried tone, "Green, Kevin doesn't have a walkie-talkie. How am I to know that everything is alright?"

"Sorry Double D", I said ashamed.

"It's okay", he replied, and after a sigh he continued, "I'm going to go look through my telescope again, I'll keep you posted if I see anything"

McBloo noticed I felt bad, as the walkie-talkie clicked out, and attempted to break the silence.

"Hey, I didn't know animals could own Junkyards, did you?", he said, laughing a little.

I frowned at him and he stopped laughing, and then he had a puzzled look, unsure of what to say.

"Is that supposed to be funny?", said a voice that we couldn't pinpoint.

"Who-", McBloo started to ask.

"The name's Goat, and I'm no animal" said the old man, standing up.

He nearly had blended in with the rusty old car he had been leaning on, being an older man with the scruffy look and long shaggy hair. We couldn't really tell if he was angry or not, his voice had been calm, but his dark glasses hid the emotion of his eyes, making him very hard to read.

"We're sorry, he didn't mean anything by it", I said quickly.

He raised his glasses with his hand and looked us over carefully.

"Why are you here?", Goat finally asked, "That bike don't look broken to me"

"Oh no", I said, realizing what he was thinking, "No, not the bike. We are looking for some mechanical pieces for a communications device"

He put his shades back over his eyes and paused for awhile, "Oh", he finally said, "I can't help you there, but I can point you in the right direction"

"That would be cool!", exclaimed McBloo.

The ground shook hard again, as Goat raised his arm to point further into the Junkyard.

"Thatta way boys", he said, "Go find a girl named Kiva, she'll fix you right up"

"Thanks Goat", I said, as me and McBloo walked the bike further in.

It was almost like walking through a metal hallway, a long giant pile of rusty junk on the left, and the two abandoned buildings on the right. The ground shook again as we started walking towards a small fenced area. We could already overhear some voices at this distance, as we walked closer.

"Please man, you've gotta help me, that little girl is crazy! She's been following me all day", said the first voice.

"Dude, I already told you that you could crash here", the second voice said.

"Nah man, you don't understand. Rust'll muss my hair!", the first voice said in panic.

Me and McBloo both looked at each other confused, as we walked through the gates.

Chapter 4: The Invasion Begins!

They both walked through the gates together to find out who they had overheard. There were three young men, but no girl. The first one looked like he had eaten a few good meals, he had a sort of half-cowboy look and called himself Coop. The second voice had been a tall, thin, guy who wore dark clothes and looked a bit like a punk. His name was Jamie. The last man, that was the first voice they had heard, looked exactly like the man that had been in Suzie's picture. The three of them noticed our presence and turned to see who had come in.

"Johnny?", I asked unsure of what to say.

"Oh thank goodness your not that girl-", he interupted himself and moved over to us in almost a split second, and poked me in the chest with his finger, "Wait a minute kid, how do you know my name?", he asked raising one of his eyebrows above his shades.

"Well-", I started again.

"No, don't tell me!", he interrupted again, and began doing poses lightning fast, "Of course you've heard of me! I'm just too cool, right kid?"

"Uhm...", I muttered, something about this Bravo guy just turned off my brain...

"Allow me to explain Johnny-", Suzie started from out of nowhere.

I was trying to figure the both of them out, wondering if everybody in the world was as spontaneous as these two.

"You-", he interrupted her, and then himself, "You found me again!"

This time Jamie spoke up, "Dudes if you don't-", Johnny tried to break in again, but Jamie just raised his voice and continued, "If you don't stop interrupting each other, then I'm going to go crazy!"

"Hey man, chill", Johnny said.

There was an odd silence for a bit, as I still wondered how Suzie had gotten here so quickly. I felt a little like I didn't belong here anymore, and since Bravo had drained my brain, forgot what I was here for...

"Okay Johnny, what do you say?", Suzie asked, "Will you buy some cookies today?"

"That's it kid I've had enough! I'm really sick of all this stuff! I don't want cookies can't you see, now get your stuff away from me! I will not buy them, not one box, I will not eat them with a fox! I will not buy a peanut swirl, I will not buy it little girl! I will not eat them on a boat, with a goat, or in a coat! You drive me nuts, It's really true! I've really had enough of you!", Johnny Bravo said, making all kinds of crazy, spontaneous gestures as he spoke.

"Did you say cookies?", Coop asked, finally joining the conversation now that food had been involved, "I'll buy some, forget him!"

McBloo nudged me, and I remembered the Nanocom, as I watched Coop buy about twelve boxes of cookies.

"Thanks Coop!", Suzie said cheerfully.

"Excuse me everybody", I finally said, "I'm looking for a Kiva, although it appears she isn't here"

"She's testing Megas right now", Coop said, with a mouthful of cookies.

"Megas?", I asked.

"Dude you haven't felt the shaking?", Jamie asked.

"It's Megas XLR, my giant robot car!", Coop said, pointing over the fence behind us and to the left.

"Wow!", I said, as I turned around.

It was an amasing device if I ever saw one, a gigantic blue robot with a red car mounted on top to control it. We never saw it on the way in, due to the wall of junk. Sure enough the robot came walking towards our little fenced area, the ground shaking with every step it took. It was hard to judge how big it really was, my best guess would be about the size of a fifty-story building. It leaned down towards us, and even though the others knew what it was, something that big coming that close, scared me almost more than anything I've ever been scared of before. The car door opened and a orange-haired young woman stepped out.

"Did somebody need me?", Kiva asked.

"Yeah my friend Edd was looking for mechanical parts. A man named Goat told me you would know what to do!", I handed her the walkie-talkie, and continued, "He is on the other end, he will tell you what he needs"

"You were right to come to her, shes from the future. She can do anything with machines, she designed Megas you know!", Coop said, and looked at me with excitement, as if he had an idea come to him, "You wanna ride?", he said, his eyes getting big.

"Would we?", Me and Mcbloo both said together.

McBloo, Coop, Kiva, and me all got into the car atop Megas, as Johnny Bravo and Suzie headed home. Coop took the controls, and we rose into the air swiftly as the robot stood back up.

"Well crew, what do you wanna see?", Coop said with confidence.

Unexpectedly, Edd came in over the walkie-talkie with much more than average fear in his voice, "Get out of there now! Don't look up! Just move, move, move!"

Surprised, Coop turned the giant robot to look up at the sky, and then we saw it. I'll never forget that day, a giant green meteor coming straight down towards us, I was so scared, but Coop wasn't. He didn't seem to fear anything.

"Oh yeah! I'll catch this watch!", he yelled out in excitement.

The meteor proved to be too much, even to Megas, as it went right between the massive robot's hands. It was just too fast to catch! The impact sent all four of us flying through the windsheild, and it seemed to me as if time had slowed down. I looked around as I fell through the air, in pain. I looked down at my hand, it was gashed and bleeding where the glass had cut me from the windshield. I looked around to the others, none of them seemed to be cut, but they were all screaming. Double D was yelling something over the walkie-talkie but I couldn't hear him. It was all in such slow motion, and there was so much screaming. The shock finally left my body, and I slammed down to the ground fast for the second half of the way down. I could barely see as the pain rose to ten times what it was before. I saw the ground now, on my hands and knees. It was covered with green goo, making cracks in the ground. The goo was seeping into the cut in my hand! The pain was so excruciating I lost my vision, and I finally let out a scream. I felt the goo merging with me, changing me, and I had no strength to stop it. I felt something come out of my back, as I kept screaming. Then the world went black...

I couldn't feel anything after that, it was if my mind was in another realm, one of deep darkness, and it had the feel of something evil. I started to hear voices, but of nothing I have known before. Like a strange communication from afar, the sinister dark voices talked now, as if they had no idea that anybody could be listening.

"Lord Fuse, the first wave of the invasion is complete", the first dark voice said, "The first four Fuseors have been launched and have impacted in their designated areas. One hit the small human base on the moon, one hit in front of a school for animals, one landed in the cemetary, and the last one landed in a junkyard. Just before impacting their targets, each one released their Terrafusers sucessfully. The suburbs area should surrender soon, as we work on the next two waves. Likely outcome in the next twenty minutes is a large human movement towards the city and forest to escape our creatures. Evacution is an emminent procedure for them to take"

When the first one stopped his report, I then heard the most evil voice I had ever heard in my entire life. It was a deep voice, and echoed as if several people were talking at once. They called him Lord Fuse, although I had no idea what Kingdom he ruled over, nor was I very certain of where I was at or what was happening.

"Excellent work everybody, the universe will be ours!", Lord Fuse exclaimed in a excited but still very deep voice, "Do you have an estimated time for when the second of three waves will be ready?"

"No my Lord, however your science department would like to see you now, they say they may have discovered a slight problem with the invasion of this particular planet", the reporter voice said.

"Very well, however there will be no problems, we have already taken entire solar systems into our great planet. Send them in anyway, I'm a little bored at the moment, it might prove interesting. I want that city and forest the target of the second wave, they cannot hide forever!", Fuse said and then laughed a triumphant sinister laugh.

The laughter then started to fade as I began to regain my concienceness...

A gargled faded out voice asked, "Green, oh man Green, can't you hear me? Wake up Green please!", the foggy face of McBloo came into view, his voice returning to normal, "Your alive! Your eyes are opening! You scared me so bad Green!"

"McBloo, I'm sorry, what happened", I said in a tired voice.

"Oh", his eyes changed into a strange look of unbelief, "I don't know, but I don't think your the same as you used to be"

I sat up and looked down at myself, but nothing appeared to be different. Kiva, Goat, Jamie, and McBloo were all staring at me as if I was an alien.

"Guys this ain't good, I saw what looked like an army of bald goo people march right out of that scum lake where the meteor hit", Goat warned.

"Hey guys, where did Coop go?", I muttered confused.

Kiva's eyes turned back in to their experienced look as she said, "Oh he's outside, yelling about Megas being ruined"

I had so many questions, Megas was ruined? What could that mean? But the most important thing I wanted to know was what I managed to ask next.

"Who is Fuse?", I asked, as all the thoughts rushed into my head.

"I don't know", said McBloo, "But he may have something to do with your tentacles"

Everybody gasped and McBloo cusped his hands over his mouth as if he had said something taboo.

"Tentacles?", I asked, in confused amasement, "What tentacles?"

Chapter 5: Avoiding Goo

I looked behind me and still saw no tentacles, this must be some kind of joke. Well, it wasn't very funny.

"Is this some kind of joke?, I asked, "I don't have any tentacles at all"

They looked at one another and said, "Yeah, yeah just a joke, sorry"

"Not very funny", I said, as they still looked uneasy, "Kiva how long was I out? Is the walkie ok? Did you get those parts?"

"Oh yes, it stayed ok in my pocket, and I have some futuristic communication technology for you", she said, "It's no junk"

I took the box of stuff from her, and started to feel uneasy myself. Why did everybody else look terrified? I mean sure we almost got hit with a meteor, but it was over now. Nobody died, and I just got knocked out for a little while. The danger was over wasn't it? Then I remembered the dark voice talking about creatures, about evacuation, about Earth being taken over. But wasn't that all just a bad dream?

"Oh here's your walkie-talkie back, Edd wanted you to go back to the cul-de-sac to see him, and give him the box", she finally said, "Oh and you've only been out for about three hours, it's just starting to get dark"

"Thanks", I said, getting up off the old matress, "McBloo your going with me right?"

"Of course I am", McBloo said, though this time not so brave as he used to be. He even seemed to shake a little.

"Dudes, be careful out there", Jamie warned us, "It's rough"

McBloo nodded knowingly, as I asked, "What's out there guys? You have to tell me, stop avoiding it.

"The junk has risen, man", Goat replyed.

"He's right", Kiva said, "I'm not even sure how, but just before the meteor hit us, several small pods split from it, and now pieces of scrap metal have come together because of some energy in the goo and have shown hostility"

"Hostility?", I asked.

"They attacked us dude", Jamie answered, "They shoot some of that goo at us, and it burns man. You remember right, you fell in it?"

"Yeah, it hurt so bad", I said, "Well how are we supposed to get around them?"

Jamie shrugged, "Your just gonna have to sneak around em dudes", he said.

"Fine", I replied in slight anger, "If I can survive a fall like that I guess I can get back to my house, at least I'll be safe there instead of this abandoned building. Come on McBloo let's get out of here!"

We both headed out the door to find that it was getting pretty dark outside, the sun on the horizon making the sky a dark orange. We saw Megas in the distance, stuck in place with it's arm out reaching for the meteor that it never caught. There were vine-like structures made by the goo, that went all the way up the massive robots legs holding it in it's postion. I wasn't sure if it would ever move again. I didn't stare at it for too long though, my eyes were constantly scanning all around us for the metal monsters Jamie had warned us about. Coop was standing near us looking towards megas, and his face had such rage in it. I didn't blame him, if I lost a robot that cool I would be mad too.

"That's it, you slimeballs!", he yelled out, going into a ranting fury, "You messed up my robot, you hurt my friend Jamie, you made me fall down really far, your little creeps are trying to hunt us down, and you made me eat all the cookies I bought!", he yelled out to the sky, "Your going down!"

However without his powerful robot Coop could do nothing but yell this time, as he frowned and started to walk back inside.

"Hurry!", McBloo whispered quickly, "They are sure to have heard all that yelling, if we don't move now they are going to find us!"

They both made their way back, between the junk piles and the other abandoned building, being careful not to step on the green cracks that covered most of our path. Then they heard the sound of rusty metal scratching together, as glowing green light appeared from behind the building. McBloo and I stopped in our tracks, as the fearsome rusty metal head of what looked like a small dinosaur came from behind the building. A small dinosaur was no small thing to us though, in fact it was almost as tall as us, and I was certain the thing's jaw could take somebody's arm off.

"McBloo", I whispered, "Keep an eye on it, I have to watch where I step"

He nodded and we started to move ahead again. I hadn't taken much thought into my plan, resulting in the ranger not watching his own feet. Sure enough he took his third step, and yelled a short scream of surprise pain, luckily his shoes reduced most of the pain. The metal dino jerked it's head up at the noise, and saw us with it's gleaming red eyes. It came out from behind the building revealing it's whole body. It looked to be a complete metal raptor, the goo holding like living glue. It started getting ready to charge at us, and McBloo turned left to run between the two buildings. I followed him, as this was no time to ask questions, we had to stick together! Every few steps hurt a bit, but if we stopped to check where we were walking now, we would surely die. We turned to the right, the direction of the cul-de-sac, and kept running a few steps, until a black arm raised up to hold us back to a stop.

"Sssh!", the girl said, she wore a big red hat and looked pretty athletic.

We had no idea who she was, but something about her just told me she was somebody I could trust. She wielded duel-pistols that were blue, like her clothes, but appeared to be cheap water guns. As the dino approached, the girl did a cartwheel from behind the corner of the building, directly into the path of the charging metal beast. Just before it reached her, she leaped, performing a mid-air split, she fired both guns at the dino, which was now directly below her. The raptor fell, dazed and confused behind her as she landed. It fell apart, back into scrap pieces, while the goo seeped into the ground.

"Oh yeah, that's how we do!", she said with excitedness, "Let's roll guys!"

"Whoa", McBloo and I said in unison, looking at one another.

"What, you ain't never seen action befoe?", she asked, with a knowing smile, "The name's Abigail Lincoln, but call me Numbuh Five!"

"Thanks Numbuh Five", I said, thinking she must be some sort of real life heroine, "Your no normal kid"

"No I ain't", she replied, "But from what I seen, you ain't either! We ain't got no time to chat though, where ya'll live at?"

"The cul-de-sac", I replied.

"Oh dang, that big castle?", Abby asked, "Yeah Numbuh Five seen that place on the way here, let's go!

We started off again towards the safety of our houses, but this time under the protection of this amasing fighter, Numbuh Five!

We all snuck around the building again, looking around for monsters every few steps. We had made it to the archway that said Goat's Junkyard, it was still standing after the impact. What we saw after that was troubling, a gathering of a few dinos around a little green goo pod. It seemed as though they didn't stray too far from it, like an energy source of some kind.

"Terrafuser", I muttered.

"Woohey, this is gonna take some work", Abby said, "Let's run, I'll shoot them as we go"

We all ran right by them, tired of sneaking around. It was a pack of three of them, they turned and chased us close on our tails. Numbuh Five was able to send one back to the scrap heap, but the other two were gaining fast.

"There's the street", McBloo said in between breaths.

As we got to the street, the metal raptors started to shake violently. They would not come any closer, and Abby stopped shooting at them. It was the strangest thing, they just could not go any farther without tearing themselves apart. Thier energy source was that little pod, and despite how powerful they might have been, or how tough they looked, they couldn't roam free. I almost felt sorry for them as they turned and walked back towards the junkyard, like dogs with a longer leash than most. But I remembered that this was not thier home, it was ours and they had no business invading it!

"We are almost there", McBloo said, after he had caught his breath, "Let's go home Green"

We walked along the road and over the bridge. Everything seemed calm here at least, maybe there wasn't very many Terrafusers, we may not have much to worry about here. Then I remembered the next two waves. I was crossing my fingers hoping that was all just a dream, but I knew the fall wasn't, and I knew the dinosaurs weren't. I wasn't sure what was in my head and what wasn't but something was definately going on here. I looked up into the sky, and noticed the star Double D must have been talking about. Although a telescope was not needed now, it wasn't very big, but it was bigger than a star. The size of a faraway plane I would guess.

"Guys in the park, look!", McBloo said in a hushed voice.

It was hard to see because the sky was a dark red now, but I managed to see several other metal monsters, within and some of them outside of the park gates. I was worried now, as this was right outside the cul-de-sac castle's walls. There was no way that cardboard was going to protect my friends. These monsters looked a bit different, they had fire hydrants for hands, and looked a little more like giant people.

"Numbuh Five, my friends are in there, you have to help us!", I begged.

"Oh I will, but first we gotta get you guys inside that wall", she replied.

We all ran past the giant metal men, and reached the outside of the cardboard wall. It seemed to be perfectly intact. Abby jumped up onto a box, and instructed us on a path to take to climb the wall, as she shot at the monsters that noticed us. We managed to make it up the wall and jumped down onto the other side. Sleeping bags lined the cul-de-sac's sidewalk, and there was a small campfire behind Eddy's throne. I saw Double D and Eddy sitting up against a wall talking, and walked over to them. Edd seemed very relieved to see me again, but he had tears in his eyes.

"Here's the box Double D", I said, "What's wrong buddy? Was anybody hurt?"

"I don't think so, the rangers have been taking turns fighting the Hydro Hammers outside, and everybody has come back ok except for one", Edd said in a sad tone.

"Who is it Double D?", I asked him, "Who is it?"

"Well", he said, and then he lost all of his composeur and grabbed on to my shirt falling in agony, "They took Rolf, Green! Rolf is gone and he won't pick up on the walkie-talkie!", he continued not realizing how loud he was crying out, as a few kids sat up in their sleeping bags to hear what the ruckus was about, "Rolf's gone, they just carried him away! I don't know what to do anymore!"

Chapter 6: The First Night

I tried to calm Edd down as much as I could, but I was very worried myself. The world was different now, he explained to me that all of the adults we had ever known were gone. I had always known the outside world was dangerous, which was why I tried to stay in the sheltered cul-de-sac. The only reason I left was because Double D needed something. I had this fear ever since my brother disappeared four years ago. He always wanted to leave when he was a kid, to go out and explore the unknown. I never saw or heard from him ever again. But somehow I had just managed to return didn't I? Even when monsters from space had landed. Well I owed that to Abby, she was walking down the cul-de-sac road trying to reach somebody on her radio. Their were a number of kids wandering around the enclosed castle space, bored and locked up. They were restless and couldn't sleep since Rolf's capture. McBloo was crying, kneeling down in front of a tree from the terrible news. I didn't blame him either, Rolf wasn't as close to me as he was to McBloo, but I knew him too, and couldn't believe he was gone now. What if we never saw him again?

I felt somehow stronger than I used to be, I guess it's the hard times like this that make you a stronger person. Memories of the day, of my entire life flashed before me, and I wondered if my sister AJ, was alright. Why would she leave so early in the morning and never return? Perhaps they got her too. For all I knew, Rolf, Ed, Kevin, AJ, and my brother were gone forever, and I might be next. I began pacing nervously, just like the rest of the kids. Sarah didn't even have the energy to yell like she had always done before, she just held on to Jimmy. Naz was worried about Kevin still being out there as well. I even wondered if Johnny and little Suzie had made it home safely. There was so much I did not know, and for a while I just stood there watching the others. We were going to run out of food, protection, and sleep. Somebody had to go and find a way to get rid of these monsters, and not just with the pile of sticks that the rangers were using to hit the metal monsters with. Edd had started construction on the Nanocom, as I headed towards my old house.

I walked into the dark house that was once so familiar, Numbuh Five waving at me as I closed the door. Reaching for the light switch, I missed several times in the darkness of the house, then I felt it and switched the the lights. Nothing turned on though, the power must have gone out when the meteors hit. My eyes adjusted to the dark room eventually, and I made my way to my room. I swithched out my torn green hoodie for a dark green shirt and a light green jakcet. It was no wonder everybody called me Green, it had been my favorite color since as long as I could remember and I modeled everything around it. I did wonder though if all the kids had forgotten my real name, but I was used to it now. I went to the pantry to get some food, and found some instant ramen in a cup, despite the pantry had apparently been ravaged for food awhile ago by the other kids. I started eating, on the couch in front of the TV, in the dark because of the power being off.

Then my brain started to worry again, to think about those that were still out there. Who knows what could be happening to them without somebody like Abby to save them? Then the strangest thing happened, the TV turned itself on in the middle of the power outage. It was Rolf...

"You must help Rolf, vine in the back Green boy!", the TV seemed to call out to me.

"Rolf? Are you talking to me?", I said starting to freak out.

"Is there anyone else in the room?", he retorted.

"But your in the TV!", I yelled and reached for the remote to change the channel, and then an image of Ed popped up.

"Oh No!", he yelled in fear, "The alein lord snotzax has come to eat my brains!"

I dropped the rest of the ramen spilling it all over the floor. I panicked and started to stand up to run away, as the TV changed its own channel to static black and white lines.

"Remember me?", asked the voice of Fuse through the TV.

I was in total panic now and ran for the bathroom to hide, was this all me? Was I losing my mind?

"You can't run from us forever kid!", Fuse yelled after me.

I slammed the door behind me and locked it, scared to death of my own memories haunting me. Then I turned to face the man in the mirror...

He was pretty beat up, about eighteen years old. Kiva must of fixed him up pretty good from the fall, because he didn't appear to be injured too badly. Notice how messy his hair was, I looked through the drawers for a comb, but found none. I ran my hands through my long green hair, but couldn't get it to look much better. I had the feeling that there was great danger here, but I couldn't figure out why, so I laughed it off as I looked at the man in the mirror again. He had no tentacles, and neither did I!

How could I ever fall for such a joke, the man was laughing along after I had stopped. His laughing got deeper and and suddenly his normally blue eyes turned red and began to glow. I was starting to get scared, even though it was a reflection and I was probably just really tired. I struggled to open the door in my panic, and the reflection did too. He looked exactly like me except for those awful eyes, maybe it was just my imagination. Then four tentacles sprouted from his back, but not mine. His skin itself seemed to fall apart now, just as the dinos had before, revealing a version of my body made entirely of the fusion goo, and with the added tentacles of course. Was that really my reflection?

It was trying desperatly to open the door just like how I was. It must have noticed I knew something was wrong here, for it stopped trying to open the door completely, and it's tentacles started to lash at the inside of the mirror. I was getting desperate now, beating my fists against the door and yelling for Double D to come rescue me. It slammed through the mirror, shattering it to pieces, as it tackled me to the floor. It burned the left side of my face with its hand, and held it there watching me be in pain.

"We have your DNA human", it said in a voice of Fuse and my own combined, "This world is ours!"

Something clicked in at that moment, an instinct I didn't know I had brought upon by the anger at the beings statement, and the pain of my face. I imagined I was strong enough to throw him right out the bathroom window, and my body started making the means to do it!

Tentacles came out of my own back now, two of them sprang me up off the floor, the other two forced him off me and threw him right out of the window. It seemed that I had no control over them though, they were much stronger than me, and they didn't feel the burn of the goo. They had torn four giant holes in my jacket, yet my shirt was intact, as if they had passed right through it. Their job being done, they retracted back into my skin.

"That's not exactly what I had in mind", I said to myself, extremely confused.

"Is anybody up here?", a kid asked from the other side of the door, "I heard a noise"

"There was a monster, but it's gone now", I replied looking out of the broken window, it overlooked the roof of my garage.

"That's good", he said, "I'll help you get the door open, stand back!"

I looked back at the door, to see the doorknob explode and make a hole where it had been. The kid pushed the door right open after that, with a gun in hand.

"The name's Vince!", said the kid, he had some quite interesting blue hair.

We both looked out the window, the monster was gone, but I couldn't help but feel like this wasn't the house I grew up in. I could see the campfire down the street, and Edd putting things together for the Nanocom in it's light. I turned around again to see that Vince was staring at me in wonder.

"What is it?", I asked.

"Your Green aren't you?", he asked as an answer, "We thought you died when the meteors came down"

"I'm fine", said Green, "But who knows for how long, I get the feeling they are never going to leave"

"Well", he said, "You better rest, we have more sleeping bags. I don't think your afraid of the dark, but it's really not safe"

"I noticed...", I replied, blankly, still in shock.

"Us kids have to stick together you know", he said, as we walked down the stairs.

"That's right", I said solumnly, "There's strength in numbers"

I opened the door to see Abby speaking into her comm, in a frusterated tone.

"There is definately, strength in Numbuhs", I repeated, not really talking to anyone in particular.

As me and Vince walked towards the ring of sleeping bags, surrounding the throne, I took a moment to realize the strange things about life. The joke of earlier, becoming our only security, our salvation. I thought for once that Eddy might actually be useful, as I picked up on part of Abby's conversation.

"Yeah Numbuh One, there's a whole base of kids here, they don't even use 2x4 tech", she said, "You know what we really need is my sista. With Numbuh Eleven back, we could beat this thing easily"

There was a pause as she listened to the other end.

"Yeah I know she won't co-operate, and that she can't be trusted, but still you know we need all the help we can get", she said, "Anyways, send ova Numbuh 4321 with that S.C.A.M.P.E.R., we need more than sticks to fight with ova hea!"

I turned my attention back to where I was going, not understanding most of anything she was talking about. There were a few kids sitting up in their sleeping bags, one being almost as old as me. They called her Doctor, which was a good thing because the side of my face still burned from that contact earlier. I hoped nothing was horribly wrong with it, but I wasn't going to tell anybody what I had seen, creating more panic definately wasn't the way to go. The younger ones, being named Edwin Dragon, and Cantara Crowfalcon. Cantara seemed to think the Doctor as somewhat a big sister, and had his arms around her snuggling for protection. She seemed slightly annoyed, but knowing the conditions outside, I don't think she minded as much. My sleeping bag was near in between all six of ours. Going clockwise, it was Edwin, Doctor, Cantara, Green, McBloo, and Vincent. It was good to see McBloo not crying again, even if he was asleep.

"So guys do we got some waffles in the morning?", Cantara joked.

"I wish", Edwin replied.

It seemed that they were restless, and it couldn't have hurt me to make more friends, so I decided to talk with them. They would've keep me awake talking either way...

"So your a Doctor, eh?", I asked the older girl.

"Oh, no", she replied, "My mom was one, I guess I may have picked up a few things from her though. You can call me Susan Silverbullet if you'd like."

"Hey, your that Green kid right?", Edwin asked.

"Yeah that's me", I said, starting to wonder how word got around so quickly.

"You really have", he paused, "Tentacles?"

"I didn't think so at first", I said, looking over at the sleeping McBloo in slight annoyance, "But after a few minutes ago, I'm quite sure I do. But that's really not important right now"

"Not important?", Cantara chimed in, "Then what is important? It's the popcorn right?"

"Food is important here that is for sure", I answered his slight randomness with a bit of logic, "But what I was going to say, was that somebody needs to go out to find Ed. We can't leave him all alone out there, and I think us as a team should do it!"

"Sounds like a plan", Silverbullet replied, "I hear they are shipping weapons here in the morning"

"Sure, I'll go", Edwin said, "But why does Cantara always get to be the one to hug you Doctor?"

Cantara simply stuck out his tongue at this, and I wasn't really familiar with the group's little family style behavior. I suppose it was a good thing though, in times like these we needed to bond really well with each other.

"I'll come too", Vince said, snuggling into his sleeping bag, "But I'm going to sleep now"

"Yes", I agreed, "We should all get plenty of rest for the morning"

We all took awhile to get to sleep, the only noises in the world being Edd's machinery making the Nanocom, and the far off sounds of monster crys.

Chapter 7: The New World

After a multitude of bad dreams, I awoke to the sounds of screaming children and gunfire. I sat up quickly, alarmed, and looked at the other five empty sleeping bags. It was a strange feeling to wake up to, not calm at all. There were kids jumping up the box wall with all forms of weaponry, not sticks, but guns and swords. I looked up into the sky as three, seemingly wooden jets screamed through the air, there were big, forest green, transport ships following at a slow pace. I could make out they were all marked with three letters. I had no idea what KND could have stood for, or what side these things were on, but seeing these alone surprised me. I thought the adults had disappeared, and surely kids couldn't build such things. Where had my new friends gone? There must be an emergency going on around here, everybody was so jumpy.

"Hey kid, get up!", said the voice of Abby, though I could not see her.

I got up and ran towards my house, and saw her waving me over to one of the transport ships that had landed in somebody's driveway. I noticed the ship was full of weapons, and Abby signaled it was ok to take one. I picked out a small green pistol type gun, and went over to talk to her.

"This hea's a S.C.A.M.P.E.R. it's usually just to take you places, but we needed to bring ya'll some weapons", she answered, before I had asked, "Numbuh Five seen your friends fighting those Hydro Hammers ova the wall. They didn't wanna wake ya"

"Thanks Numbuh Five", I said politely.

"Oh and one mo' thing", she added, "Double D needs ya right away"

I spotted Edd slumped against Rolf's old house, and ran towards him. I felt a little more confident with a gun, even though I seemed to have some strange powers to help me. Seeing the teamwork of all the kids here, and the Urban Rangers armed with real weapons, made me feel good, despite the fact we had been forced to this point.

"You called for me?", I asked him with a smile.

"Yes, although I'm not sure why your so carefree now, Rolf is still gone", he said frowning, "Well, here it is, the Nanocom. Fasten it onto your wrist. The little circle that looks like the watch is actually a mini-radar of the area around you, and you can press the circle down to talk to other people that have Nanocoms. I'm passing them out right now, so far only me, you, Eddy, and Numbuh Five, have them. Unlike the walkie-talkie, there should be no limit on the range of the device's communication. If I was a smarter kid, I would have given it all sorts of other features, but sadly I'm not"

"Well I think your brilliant Double D", I said, trying to make him feel better.

"There's always the chance somebody you find could improve it", he said, trying to look on the bright side, "Anyway you better get moving, the others are looking for you."

He shoved 7 more Nanocoms into my pocket and said, "Give these only to your most trusted friends, we don't want to run out of them"

I started to run towards the wall in great excitement, the Nanocom beeped as it activated the radar screen. I could see the outlines of buildings like my house, but it had no heat sensors to tell me where friends or monsters were. All the same, I loved anything that Double D made.

"Hey Green wait", Eddy called out from the throne, "Your gonna want armored clothes for the fight"

"Where could I get a thing like that?", I asked.

"Every castle has a marketplace", he said smiling, as he pointed his thumb behind him, "Just talk to a Ranger and buy something"

As I walked towards the stall Eddy said, "Business is booming", under his breath, and began flipping a quarter.

The stalls were filled with all sorts of clothes, the likes of which had flexible light-weight armor stitched into the inside, nearly undetectable. I decided to buy this great looking, dark green armored suit, that had the look of something a man at war would wear. This "Commissioner Set" seemed just as thin and light as my old clothes, which futuristically switched places with each other, leaving my old dark green shirt on the rack.

"That'll be 2.25$", Ranger Jenny said.

I gave her the money, and she tossed the quarter to Eddy, and pocketed the rest.

"Times have changed, for the better", Eddy said, smirking, "So what do ya think?"

"These are the best clothes that I have ever seen!", I yelled in excitement, "Thanks Eddy, I knew you would come through for us some day!", I continued and ran to find my new friends. Edd walked up to the throne and stood off to the right side of it, frowning.

"You do know he won't be happy when he finds out you didn't make those, don't you Eddy?", Edd said, in a slightly annoyed, but expected tone.

"Who cares sockhead? I'm getting a quarter for every sale in my castle!", Eddy replied indignantly, "It's not like I told him that I made them, he just assumed I did"

"Really Eddy, your castle?", Double D replied angrily, "Will you never consider the needs of everybody else?"

"Probably not", he replied, "Besides it's not like anybody is ever angry at me for very long, and it means more jawbreakers for me. I don't see why you get so worked up about these things, I've been doing it for years"

"That's precisely my point Eddy", Edd said, then he gave up on trying to reason with him.

I found myself once again facing the enormous wall of boxes, sort of hoping that Eddy hadn't of patched the hole that Ed had made. Without Abby's guidance, finding my way among the wall's cardboard crevices could prove to be somewhat difficult. Some of the boxes protruded out of the wall more than others, and I found my way up the wall sooner than I had anticipated. From atop one of the castle towers, I now saw a grand battlefield in our own backyards. There were already two kids that had taken defencive positions in the tower. One an injured Urban Ranger boy, sitting and crying up against the wall. The other however, was a girl with fiery red hair, and had a personality to match.

"Stop crying and get up you stoopid boy!", she yelled, as she took shots at the monsters below, "And you, if you be with the KND, state your number!"

"KND?", I asked, very curious about the new forces I kept seeing.

She then went silent, seemingly recognizing my voice, and slowly turned around to make sure she had heard right. Once she saw me, she seemed to go into a raging fury.

"You! What are you doing here?", she yelled out, "You are one of our main enemies Tra-", she then interrupted herself, "What do you mean you've never heard of us, you stoopid boy? Do ya pay no attension?"

"Look, I have no idea who you are or how you know my name, but I'm kind of trying to find my friends right now, so quiet down", I said, in frustration.

"I am Numbuh 86", the girl replied in a huffy voice, "And there's no way I'm ever helping you, your an enemy, a boy, and your a teenager. The only reason I don't shoot you right here and now, is because of the bigger enemy! So stay out of my way, boy!"

I jumped down, annoyed and confused. What a waste of time that had been, and usually I never got mad at anybody, but my goodness she was one of those rare people that just made me angry.

"And tell your father to shove it up his pipe!", she yelled down at me.

Now that was just the last straw, there was no reason to bring my dad into this. Where does she get off, insulting me and my family? I mean sure he was always away from home on "business" most of the time, but he was still a nice man. He wore a tie, and suspenders, and he did in fact, carry a pipe. He was a very business oriented man, usually wearing that same outfit from his work everytime I saw him. He also usually had the strange smell of burnt toast about him whenever he was around, I assumed he never had much time to ready his breakfast in the morning, but he was a normal everyday business man. How did this Numbuh 86 know so much about me and my dad? Perhaps her dad was in some kind of bad business deal with my dad, but that was my best guess. I quickly realized I was getting very distracted when a broken metal fire hydrant arm flew past my face. I started scanning the area for my friends, as my Nanocom started beeping. I pressed down the map circle and a hologram of Double D's face appeared above the circle on my wrist, and began talking.

"I wanted you to know I just made some modifications to the Nanocom network", the head of Double D told me, "On the radar you can now track other people that have Nanocoms using the radar function. People like me, Eddy, and Numbuh Five will appear on the map as teal-colored faces, the seven Nanocoms in your pocket will show up as yellow-colored faces, once they are activated by your friends"

"Thanks Double D, your getting better and better with these gadgets", I said, as I wondered if he could see my face floating above his wrist.

"I try", Edd said, smiling, "Double D, out"

The battlefield was layed out before me now, and I could see that the little war had been taken up on three main fronts. To my right was the park with the Hydro Hammers inside, and surrounding the entry point in the fence was a small assault squad of seven kids, five of which had quite visible armor plating with the same "KND" label that I had kept seeing. The other two kids seemed to have more power over the rest of the strike team, though they did not even wear the armor. One of them being a bald kid with a voice that indicated a strong leader and years of experience, I had to notice that he had the coolest sunglasses I had ever seen. The other was an asian girl who seemed to share my love of the color green, sporting a shirt of the color that was a little oversized, so much so that you could not see her hands.

"Numbuh One is it time?", one of the armored kids asked.

The kid with the shades pulled something that looked like an ordinary bunch of grapes, out of the inside of his vest, and called out, "Numbuh Three, start the countdown, everybody else wait for the signal!"

I finally made the connection between the "Numbuhs" and the "KND", and concluded that they must know Abby and that red-haired girl. Could this possibly mean that kids were the ones flying those planes? Numbuh One threw the grapes into the park, and all seven of th kids leaned back against the fence outside th park, bracing for something, as the girl in green began counting in a very long and drawn out fashion.

"Fiiive, fooour...", she said, laughing a little in between numbers.

The grapes exploded on the other side of the fence, felling 3 Hydro Hammers guarding the entrance, before she could even get to three.

"Ugh...Go now, move out!", Numbuh One yelled in frustration, with his hands clinching his forehead in stress.

"...Threee...", Numbuh Three continued.

"Enough Kuki!", he yelled in anger, as he charged in after the rest, "Try to pay a little more attension, please!"

"Sheesh, what a grumpypuss", she said, "I was only trying to help"

Directly ahead of me, across the river, the trailer park that we jokingly call Kankerland, had a different enemy. Ninjas made of old newspapers, twice the size of us kids, were attacking Lee Kanker just across the bridge, and she was punching them with her bare hands, refusing the help of weapons. Further on up the hill, was a giantwoden, Trojan Hamburger, and atop it stood Coop and Marie Kanker, back to back, in a defensive stance.

"So your telling me that I walked all the way over here, and there is no real burger?", Coop questioned Marie, yelling against the noise.

Abby suddenly dropped down in front of me, apparently from the wall behind me, with a handful of unactivated Nanocoms to pass out. I looked to the left to see a few Urban Rangers and my five buddies, working together to defeat metal spiders, that had chainsaws for legs. All of the sudden somebody's green sleeve waved back and forth in front of my face, and I turned around.

"Need any help?", Kuki asked smiling, "You look like a lost little puppy dog!"

Chapter 8: Dangerous Flight

"Thanks, but I'm not lost", I told Kuki, "I'm just amased that the world has come to this"

"Oookaaay!", she said, "I'll come with you! You don't look like a meanie to me, and Numbuh Five said you were nice. Just ignore Fanny, she hates you mostly 'cause your a boy"

"Well thanks Numbuh Three", I said politely, "Fanny?", I asked, a little confused, as we walked towards the group.

"Frances Fulbright", she replied, and when she realized I was still confused, added, "Numbuh 86, silly!"

I almost let out a laugh, but was able to hold it back. As we appoached the group, I could see the way the five fought, they all seemed to be valiant and honorable warriors. McBloo leading a small band of four Rangers, one of which had fallen down from the castle wall and messed his ankle up pretty badly. Doctor was with him, and had taken the time to comfort him. Vince, Edwin, and Cantara, stood upon a rock in the center of the spider battlefield, back to back, giving them good height advantage, full range coverage, and making it hard for the spiders to reach them.

Cantara had seemed to change entirely in the face of battle, he had the most determined look, as Vince and Edwin continued shooting the spiders that were surrounding them more and more with each passing second. Vincent was more proficient with guns then the others since he was a bit older, he focused on shooting the hinges in the spider's legs rather then just pulling the trigger at the general area of the mob. He hit the mark exactly sometimes, causing the chainsaw feet to fall from the legs, crippling the spiders.

I made my way over to Doctor Silver, hoping I could be of help, as Cantara formulated the escape plan for the three of them. Edwin had lost his temper with the monsters, and grabbed one of the beast's legs, and then turned it in on itself, making it cut right through it's own body, until it got to the power supply, then it simply fell over.

"Take that, Painsaws!", Edwin yelled out at the mob.

Over to the side, McBloo was recieving a Nanocom from Abby, his team had taken positions defending the outside of the wall. Doctor told me that the injured Ranger would just need to rest, and that it was only a sprain. Both of us and Kuki tried our best to make him comfortable and as close to the wall's protection as possible.

"Numbuh Three could you go get us a bag of ice for this?", Susan asked, "It will help reduce swelling and make him feel a little better"

"Oooh!", Kuki replied excitedly, "Should I get him a rainbow monkey too? Those always make me feel a whooole lot better"

"Sure why not", she replied, "Just try to hurry"

Abby was still explaining the Nanocom device to McBloo, and it seemed Cantara's plan had all come together.

"Ok you two, get ready to jump...", he said as he pulled a grenade out of his pack.

The mob of spiders got close enough to jump the crew atop the rock, and sencing this, Cantara sprung into action. He pulled the pin on the grenade and layed it in the center of the three of them.

"Ok, Two... One... Now!", he yelled as all the spiders jumped at them, and they at the same time jumped over the spiders, thanks to the rocks higher elevation. As all the spiders collided with each other over the rock, the grenade exploded, and all the Painsaws fell apart into scrap metal once again.

"I'm back with the ice", Kuki said jumping back over the wall towards us, "And I even brought an Urban Ranger ranbow monkey for him!"

"Thanks Numbuh Three", I said, a little annoyed at how carefree she was able to be.

All four of the others walked back towards us, the panic being over, and one of the three fronts assured with victory. Once Cantara arrived, he seemed to be jealous of the attension the ranger was getting...

"Susan, I think I hurt my foot jumping", he said in a sad tone, "Can you hug me, I think that would fix it"

Susan rolled her eyes and hugged him anyway.

"Hey look at what Numbuh Five gave us", Mcbloo and Vince said, almost in unison, "Nanocoms!"

I showed them that I had one too, and Susan, Cantara, and Edwin felt left out.

"Add me as your buddy", we told each other, and upon noticing the others were getting frusterated by not having one, I remembered that I had extras.

"Here you go guys", I told them, "Double D gave me some extras, to give to my best friends. I would say that you guys definately are. You seem both nice and good in battle, so here, add me as a buddy, that way we can track each other easier"

"Oooh!", Kuki bursted out, "I have one of those! It's good to see that all of you have already made such fast friendships. I'll stay here and help this guy, you guys need to go battle"

"Thanks Numbuh Three", I said again, "So are you guys ready to go find Ed?"

"Yeah let's do it!", they all said, our morale rising high.

I had four more extra Nanocoms still with me, just in case they were ever needed. As we walked, Vince, Susan, and I seemed to naturally stay ahead of the others, being oldest. Then it occured to me, why did Vince have a Nanocom faster than the rest of us regular kids? Perhaps there was something about him I didn't know. We made it to the bridge, when McBloo went into panic.

"Look!", he yelled, "They are coming back!"

We all looked back at the empty field where the Painsaws once stood, and sure enough the Terrafuser pod in the field was wriggling around a bit. It sent a small fissure of glowing green goo towards the pile of metal chunks, and then the fissure left no trace that it had been in the ground, yet the energy goo had indeed transferred through the ground. The metal began to shake and rise into the air, putting itself together into the form of a Painsaw once more...

"No...", Susan said in such a small whisper to herself, that I could hardly hear her.

The Painsaw fully reconfigured itself and started moving and looking around again. When it saw no enemies in the field, it started trying to peice together it's fallen comrades.

"How can we ever win!", Edwin yelled out in rage, "That's not fair! How can they do that?"

"I don't know...", I said, quite dissappointed with the situation myself, "But we have to find Ed. If these things come back to life, there is no sence fighting them over and over again, let's just make sure Ed is alright"

Edwin kicked a small rock into the river in anger, and the rest just nodded their heads, each with the same look of shock and fear.

"I better stay to help the other Rangers", Mcbloo said, "Don't worry, we can talk to each other over the Nanocoms if we need each other"

"Alright buddy", I said, "Make Rolf proud"

He nodded and headed into the park to help Numbuh One and his squad, as the rest of us crossed the river into the Newspaper Ninja filled Kankerlands. The bridge was so narrow and poorly constructed, that we had to cross it in a single file line. When we had all reached the other side, we found ourselves joining a small battle.

"I don't need no help", Lee Kanker told the blonde kid in orange clothes, fighting beside her, "I'm tough, I bash 'em in with my fists, not no tiny mustard shooter"

"Your a real charmer, lady", he said in an australian accent, "I'll go help somebody else then"

She then yelled out to her sister up on the hill, "Marie, tell May to come over here and help me, will ya!"

"I haven't seen her all day!", Marie yelled back.

"While we are talking about missing people...", Coop added, joining the yelling, "When Green and that ranger left the junkyard, I went back into the building, and well, Jamie, Kiva, and Goat are all missing now too!"

It seemed the monsters were systematically taking people away, and at theat moment I very nearly fainted at the thought, and I heard the dark voices of the mirror monster and Fuse repeat in my head:

"We have your DNA now human"
"You cannot hide forever"

I stopped myself from falling backwards into the river just in time, and the australian kid looked worried.

"Hey, you alright there mate?", he asked, "You wouldn't want to fall into water, all sorts of dangers can happen with water"

"Hey Numbuh Four, what's up?", Vince said from the back, "Your not still afraid of water are you?"

"Oh hi Blue, I didn't see ya back there", he replied, "And no I'm not afraid of water, it's just dangers are everywhere nowdays"

"Sure", he said with a laugh.

"Blue?" I asked.

"It's a long story", he said with a shrug, "I'm good with the KND though"

"Anyways, we don't have time to sit around and chat. I'll help cover you blokes", Numbuh Four said, "Run to those hills, Foster's home in on the other side, and down the street to the left"

The five of us ran for it, as Numbuh Four shot the ninjas that dared come near us with his mustard gun, causing their paper to become soggy and collapse. On thier way to the black gates that surrounded the tall misshappen mansion, we saw several monsters, including living trees. I wondered just how many kinds of monsters there were, and how big the world really was, what if this was only the begining, the easy part? How hard could the world get?

"Wow, that's a big rabbit", Cantara said as we walked along the fence, towards the gate.

I looked up, and sure enough he was right. In front of the gates stood a very large rabbit, even taller than me. The strangest part was that he stood straight up, wore a very fancy outift, and had a monocle and a top hat. The outside world just seemed to get crazier every day...

"Ahem, hello there young friends, I am Mr. Herriman", the rabbit said when we got to the gate, "Welcome to Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, we are however, not allowing the adoption of any friends at this time due to hazards of the outside world recently. But do feel free to look around"

He opened the gates for us, and we stepped inside. I wasn't used to such animals talking, but I had to admit he was quite a gentleman for a rabbit. But what we were about to see would be even more astounding, a whole house of such creatures. Some were standing outside on the porch trying to comfort somebody, though I could not see because of the big purple bull-like creature obscuring my vision. They weren't all monsters though, there was a girl with red hair that at least appeared to be human. So we went to talk to her to see if she had seen Ed.

"Excuse me", I said politely, "Have you seen a tall kid with a monobrow around here? He was headed this way yesterday, but he never came back"

"Unfortunatly yes", she said, "You just missed him, he was here until that girl showed up", she pointed over to the crowd on the steps, "But then when she came, he said something about some evil guy named Tim, and ran off into the wilds", then she turned to point to the north, where there were lots of tall trees rising over the fence.

"Great...", I mumbled, hoping this wouldn't take much more time.

"Don't worry though", she called out as we went up the steps, "We sent Mac and Coco out to search for him"

We walked through the crowd of various creatures, bumping several of them, and they felt very strange, some of them were completely smooth, some of them were furry like the bull creature.

"Oh sorry, did you need through?", said a tall red being that I had nudged.

Once we made it to the center, we found the once scary May Kanker crying. For once I felt bad for a "Kanker" seeing one so distraught.

"Why does he always run away from me?", she cried out.

"Please don't cry senorita", said the bull-like creature.

"We will find Ed", I said, "Don't you worry May"

"Really?", she looked up at me with teary eyes, "Usually nobody wants to help me, thanks everybody"

At that moment, Mr. Herriman announced the arrival of a small boy with an awesome style of black hair, with just a simple, "Ahem, Rayray is here to see you Frankie", as he hopped back outside the gates.

"Hey, has anybody seen my sister, Juniper Lee?", he asked walking up to us, and upon finding us talking to the imaginary friends, asked, "Whoa, you guys can see them too?"

"Oh everybody can see them, remember, they are imaginary friends not monsters. The Te-Xuan-Ze sight isn't needed", the red-haired woman informed him, "We are missing a few other people around here too, but no, we haven't seen June recently.

"On the contrary", Herriman's voice replied from the other side of the fence, "I saw her early this morning running into the wilds as well. No need to worry though, she can certainly take care of herself"

"You can hangout here at Foster's for awhile though Rayray, I don't think it's a good idea to go chasing people through the wilds all by yourself", Frankie offered.

He frowned at the offer, seeming to have a very rebellious spirit. The tall red creature tapped Frankie on the shoulder, with the only hand he had. Through the years it looked as though he had taken quite a few stumbles, missing an arm, and having one eye that was not in the best of conditions, but he still sported the look of one determined to remain a great basketball player, despite his situations. Perhaps he had been imagined up this way, and lived like so his entire life.

"Yes, Wilt?", she asked.

"I'm sorry, but I don't feel right leaving the cul-de-sac one person short", Wilt said, "If they are missing their tall kid, I think I am the best one to replace him. I need to go over there and help, is that ok? If it isn't, I'm really sorry"

"That would be great", said Frankie, "How thoughtful Wilt"

"A commendable thing to do master Wilt", added Herriman from the other side of the fence again.

Wilt walked out of the gates as everybody's Nanocoms clicked into action. Numbuh Five was sending a bulletin to everyone.

"All KND forces, the rangers can take it from here, we have some old friends to save. Numbuh Eleven and Numbuh 1.1 must be found if we want to win this thang! Number Eleven must be recommisioned, but Numbuh 1.1 should still have her memory. We need all the help we can get ya'll!", Abby informed seemingly everyone that had a Nanocom, "Numbuh One, I'm gonna foot it to the treehouse in Sector V, give your commands"

"Will do Numbuh Five", Numbuh One said, joining the messaging to everyone, "I want Numbuh 86 and her team to secure the wilds right away. Numbuh 4321, deliver any injured to the treehouse, and keep the weapons trade open with this Eddy fellow. Numbuh Two, fly to the cul-de-sac and pick up Three and Four, your mission is to find Eleven and One Point One. Be extremely careful in apprehending Eleven, she is still very dangerous and can't remember the old days"

"Roger, roger", a face covered in goggles and a brown flight cap clearly marked "2" replied.

Then a blonde girl that wore a metal hat made of kitchen supplies appeared, her hat marked "362", and she looked most terrified. All of these messages were still being sent to everyone, and gave me a real sence of teamwork. That is, until I heard what she had to say...

Fuse's Downfall Prologue-Eight Empty
PostSubject: Chapter Eight (Part Two)   Fuse's Downfall Prologue-Eight EmptyMon May 18, 2009 9:46 pm

"Urgent news, the moonbase is totally overrun!", Numbuh 362 yelled in panic, "We just can't hold it any longer, everybody evacuate and regroup in Sector V immediately! Sensors indicate the moon is only 486 yards away from the goo planet, and getting closer by the second!"

The group messages stopped transmitting at that moment, and everyone within the fence of Foster's looked at one another in horror, and then looked up at the sky. It was true, although I had no idea how a group of kids had created a base on the moon, never the less even gotten there, but the silver circle was far away, a tiny dot in the sky now, maybe half an inch below the green circle, that was around seven times its size. Was it going to swallow the moon?

"We aren't scared of you aliens!", yelled a tough old voice from the massive house's balcony, "We won't ever give up!"

It was an awfully short old lady, but in her old age she still managed to not be afraid of things, and looked to be fairly active.

"Madame Foster", Herriman spoke up, "Screaming will get us nowhere, as they can't hear us from here"

"I know a dog who lives out there", Rayray chimed in.

At this comment, everybody's fear turned into confusion. Madame Foster rolled her eyes and went back inside.

"So..." Rayray said, "You five and May and Me are going to look for Ed and Juniper right?"

Suddenly, a damaged KND jet burst from the leaves of the trees in the wilds, screeching through the sky, leaving a trail of black smoke. An instinct I didn't know I had kicked in at that moment, a different voice spoke to me, much like Fuse's echoing voice, but instead, echoing tones of a friendly sounding voice. Nobody else seemed to hear them...

"We must save anybody in danger, it is your duty to use your strengths to help others out of their weaknesses. That is the fate of a hero!"

Before I knew it, my tentacles had lifted me, climbing about around the outside of the Foster's mansion. I didn't even feel them activate this time, and they hurriedly rushed my around and up the tall house, and in such speed that the jet was only just passing the house as I reached the top. The others were watching in amusement, though they had no idea how awkward it felt. I wasn't even in control of where I was going...

The tentacles swung me around the flagpole atop the house for a speed burst, and sure enough I landed right in the pilot's seat of the jet! It looked as if the pilot had already ejected, and the situation did not look good. In the excitement, my tentacles had not retracted, most likely because of some adrenaline reaction. Danger and Error messages flashed in red on all screens around me, and then a computer voice activated.

"Weight changed, new pilot detected", the ship informed me, "Please state your Numbuh"

"Uhhh...", I said, unsure of what to do, "I don't have a Numbuh"

"Your voice has been linked to enemy: Father", the ship told me, "You are an imposter, prepare to crash!"

At that moment metal bars blocked the roof above me, trapping me inside! I pushed against them with the powerful tentacles, which in this height of panic, I seemed to be able to somewhat control. It was no use, they wouldn't budge at all! Straight ahead was the roof of a house in Pokey Oaks North, as the jet had swerved to the right in my panic and struggle to get out. Was this the end for me? What about my team, I had left them back at Fosters. I heard screaming I flew towards the roof, but it wasn't me, it was a girl's voice.

"Tifa! Where did you go? Help me, they are everywhere in this house! Heeelp!"

I hit the roof, and bounced off of it like a rock skipping across a pond. Then I looked over to my left, there was a girl with brown hair being taken away by a flying fusion creature. This worried me, I had not yet met a fusion that could fly. I wanted to help her but couldn't, I was stuck in this crashing cage, awaiting what could be my death. I watched in wonder as she flipped, turning the tables on the wasp, but in doing this the wasp couldn't move it's wings and they fell towards the ground. Remembering the ground I looked forward, seconds before impact into a park area, with playgrounds and a big stone pavilion.

Upon impact the chair fell out of the bottom of the crashed ship, and I toppled out with it. Somehow I had survived the deadly crash without much pain, and without thought I looked around to make sure the girl I saw had been ok. The fusion monster lay confused on the ground, and I looked to the sky to see the most wonderful thing I had ever seen!

The girl was being carried off by a familiar girl that flew with a bright blue streak of light following her. I couldn't believe it, Bubbles, one of the Powerpuff Girls from the TV show was real, and I was right there watching her fly! I ran through the park with my eyes to the sky, I had to try to meet her. She was so cute, with her blonde pigtails swaying through the air behind her. One of the KND Scampers flew towards them, and the door opened, inviting them in. Then I managed to see Kuki, Numbuh Three from earlier calling them inside. I thought on this a moment still running, if Kuki is in that Scamper, that means that girl is either Abby's sister, which that can't be true, or she is Numbuh 1.1!

If the Kids Next Door can get to the moon, and she's high on their ranks, I should get her help! I finally stopped looking at the sky, knowing I needed to get to this "Sector V" now. At that moment I saw the wall I was running full speed into, then the world went black again...

Thankies Proto, Chapter 9 is almost finished, its being worked on in the Season 2 thread. I basically just put everything here since I was starting to slow down on my writing, I wanted to see it all together, and dang it's alot more longer than I thought.
