MH3 Demo Guide Empty
PostSubject: MH3 Demo Guide   MH3 Demo Guide EmptyWed Mar 03, 2010 6:34 pm

I'm going to be compiling a small guide on some secrets and various other things I've found, as well as glitches or things that could cause problems, and other things you should note while practicing for the full version.

Monster Hunter 3 (Tri) Demo Guide:

Summary:
-This demo does not save progress in any way, and should be used as a practicing tool or to see if you would enjoy the game or not if you are unsure if you would like it.
-This demo does not contain any multiplayer modes.
-It is important to note that its a demo made before the full games completion, and the full version could be subject to small changes from this version, it's also very open to glitches and errors since it hasn't undergone full testing.
-Since there is no saving progress, they have set up 10 preset characters, each wielding a different weapon. Their armor, weapons, looks, and gender, cannot be changed in any way.
-You are also given preset items that vary slightly depending on the character, however, you can discard these items mid-level.
-You can pick up and use items you find mid-level, for example, getting raw meat to cook for more stamina, but they will not carry out of the level.
-Both Missions are set on the Solitary Island map.
-You will have 3 lives and 20 minutes to complete each Mission.
-There is no way to take the Camera Control off of Inverted.

Control Types:
-Freestyle
The Nunchuck is required. Wave Wii Remote to attack.
-Button information, coming soon...

-Classic Style 1
Classic Controller needed. Press Buttons to attack.
-Left Control Stick: Movement.
-Right Control Stick: Inverted Camera Control.
-D-Pad: Inverted Camera Control.
-Select: Menu.
-More button information, coming soon...

-Classic Style 2
Classic Controller needed. Attack with the R Stick.
-Button information, coming soon...

Missions:
--Pack Leader Takedown! (1 Star Difficulty)
Great Jaggi Hunt,
Plough through the little Jaggi and hunt down the leader of the pack, the Great Jaggi! Keep tabs on it with the on-screen Map!
-All Areas are open on this Mission.

--War Of Mass Confusion! (3 Star Difficulty)
Qurupeco Hunt,
Hunt down the nefarious trickster, Qurupeco! But be careful. When it senses danger, it will use its mimicry skills to call monsters to its aid!
-All Areas are open on this Mission.

Areas:
-Base Camp:
Where you make your home in the wild. In the Demo, the Shipping Crate is useless, but there are a few items in the Supply Crate and your makeshift bed in your tent will fully heal your health whenever you need. This is a small area that no monsters or Bosses can enter, and has a small lake for you to practice your swimming quickly.
Exits into Area 2 and secretly Area 9.

-Area 1:
A medium-sized mountain top area with a large closed wooden gate.
There are Aptonoth in this area.
Great Jaggi will pass through this area, it is unknown if others will or not.
You can fish for Whetfish in this area.
Exits into Area 2 and Area 3.

-Area 2:
A medium-sized valley with a shallow river running through it.
There are Aptonoth in this area.
Great Jaggi, Qurupeco, and Rathian will all pass through this area.
Exits into Base Camp, Area 1, Area 3, and Area 5.

-Area 3:
A medium-sized cave type area with a river running through it.
There are Felyne Thieves in this area.
Great Jaggi and Rathian will pass through this area, it is unknown if Qurupeco will or not.
Exits into Area 1, Area 2, Area 4, and Area 7.

-Area 4:
A series of small dark cave passages.
There are Felyne Thieves in this area.
Bosses in the Demo cannot access this area.
Exits into Area 3 and Area 6.
-Notes: The Felyne Thief base is in this area. If an item is stolen from you, you can come here to get it back.

-Area 5:
A medium-sized shallow basin.
There are Jaggi in this area.
Great Jaggi and Qurupeco will pass through this area, it is unknown if Rathian will or not.
Exits into Area 2, Area 6, and Area 9.

-Area 6:
A small deep Jungle area.
There are Jaggi and Jaggia in this area.
Great Jaggi will pass through this area, it is unknown if others will or not.
Exits into Area 4, Area 5, and Area 7.

-Area 7:
A small cold cave.
There are Bnahabra and Kelbi in this area.
Qurupeco and Rathian will pass through this area, it is unknown if Great Jaggi will or not.
Exits into Area 3, Area 6, and Area 8.
-Notes: Stamina may decrease at a faster rate due to the cold of this area. I haven’t verified that yet.

-Area 8:
A small boneyard, high in the mountains.
There are Jaggi in this area.
Qurupeco and Rathian will pass through this area, it is unknown if Great Jaggi will or not.
Exits into (supposedly Area 5,) Area 7, and Area 11.
-Notes: According to the map, there should be a one way trip to Area 5 from here, but it seems there is no way this is possible after checking the Area itself.

-Area 9:
A small peaceful area filled with shallow water.
There are no monsters in this area.
Qurupeco will pass through this area, it is unknown if others will or not.
Exits into Area 5 and Area 10.

-Area 10:
A large beach area that is mostly underwater.
There are Bnahabra and Epioth in this area.
Qurupeco will pass through this area, it is unknown if others will or not.
You can fish for Whetfish in this area.
Exits into Area 9 and Area 11.

-Area 11:
A medium-sized area that is completely underwater.
There are no monsters in this area.
Bosses in the Demo cannot access this area.
Exits into Area 8, Area 10, and Area 12.

-Area 12:
A small secluded boneyard, only accessible by an underwater passage.
There are Bnahabra in this area.
It is currently unknown if Bosses will pass through this area or not.

Monsters:
Bosses:
--Great Jaggi
-A much bigger version of the Jaggi, fast and agile, it can sometimes knock you around multiple times before you have the chance to get up.
-It's main tactics are to run at you on sight and then either bite at you, or throw it's entire bodyweight at you from the side in a blunt sweep. Once it has you close by, it will spin around and try to hit you with it's tail repetitively, and it jumps backward or to the side to try to avoid your attacks. It will occasionally stop to make a noise similar to that of a monkey, this is it’s call for aid, sending some normal Jaggi into the area. If it starts limping or running away from you, these are signs that it is running out of health. It will try to escape Areas by using the normal exits, or crouching into small caves that your character cannot enter.
-Tips on how to fight this boss, coming soon...

--Qurupeco
-A medium-sized flying Wyvern class monster with a fire attribute.
-It’s main tactics are to usually let you come up close to it and then either peck you, spin around to knock you with it’s wide tail, or to start it’s fire clap attack. The fire clap is easy to recognize but can be hard to avoid. It starts by clapping its hands with a spark of flame in it’s current position, then leaping forward and clapping again engulfing the area in front of it in flames, there is sometimes a second jump in a row that he will jump anywhere within the span of 45 degrees to either side of where it faces after landing the first time, giving it a second chance if you avoided the first one slightly. It also has a spitting attack that hurls mucus type ooze in 180 degrees in front of it. Sometimes it will choose to take hover slightly over the ground to do peck attacks, although it remains close enough to the ground to get hit. If it starts limping or running away from you, these are signs that it is running low on health. Other signs of low health include it calling in another Boss Monster to aid it, and it’s beak breaking from an attack. When the Qurupeco gets low on health, it uses it’s “Mimicry” to imitate another monsters call, allowing it to summon interesting monsters to the island. The most notable of these being the Rathian, but it usually summons the Great Jaggi or a group of small Jaggi. It will try to escape Areas by hovering to a farther height than usual and then flying into another Area.
-General Tips:
Watch for it’s signal to begin it’s fire clap attack, and try to get behind it before it can start the attack. Similarly, if you see the signal for it’s spitting attack, try to get up close to it and get some hits in. In the case of it summoning Great Jaggi or Rathian, it is usually best to leave the area and wait for the monsters to split up before continuing the attack.
-More tips on how to fight this boss, coming soon...

--Rathian
-A giant flying Wyvern with a fire attribute. This appearing in the Demo was a big surprise! This is probably the only thing in the Demo that could be considered a true challenge by most players and it should not be taken lightly, this is a dangerous monster, especially to preset characters that cannot be upgraded. Despite the danger involved, if you get the rare chance of seeing it, try to take it down, regardless of failing the mission or not, this is a rare opportunity to test your true skills realistically in the Demo.
-Notes: It has a move where it pins you to the ground and stomps and bites you and a red bar appears, I have not yet figured out how to escape this attack, and it continued until death.
-More tactical information, coming soon...

Normal:
--Aptonoth
Medium-sized non-aggressive herbivores that usually travel with 2-3 adults and one child together. The species is dark gray in color and walks on all fours with an interesting single vertical horn on its head. Hitting the child may cause the parents to get hostile and ram towards you.
-These usually take three to five hits, depending on the weapon.

--Bnahabra
Small aggressive flying monsters that closely resemble mosquitoes. They are pretty harmless, but will continue to annoy you if you do not get rid of them, and their bites have a chance of paralyzing you for a short time, which can be dangerous if there are other monsters in the area. Some weapons will make these ridiculously hard for you to hit.
-These usually take one to two hits, depending on the weapon.

--Epioth
Medium-sized non-aggressive underwater monsters that swim around freely.
-These usually take two to three hits, depending on the weapon.

--Felyne Theif
Small stray Felyne cat thieves will steal your items and run off with them. The item they take is completely random and could be something of serious value, for example, your Double BBQ Spit. The only way to retrieve your items is to kill the Felyne before it gets away, or find the Felyne Camp and steal it back for yourself.
-These usually retreat after taking a hit.

--Jaggi
Small, fast, and agile, these aggressive monsters can be trouble in large groups. They can be hard to hit with slower, heavier weapons.
-These usually take one to three hits, depending on the weapon.

--Jaggia
Slightly bigger, and slightly less agile than the Jaggi, these hostile monsters are a slightly more defensive version.
-These usually take two to four hits, depending on the weapon.

--Kelbi
Small non-aggressive deer monsters. If they sense danger they will evacuate the Area immediately.
-These usually take one to two hits, depending on the weapon.

Items:
--Map
A map of the hunting ground.

--Double BBQ Spit
Cutting edge BBQ technology! Hold the dash button while BBQing to keep on cooking!

--Potion
Restores a small amount of Health. Try to combine these into something Mega-better!
-Ingredients
Blue Mushroom and Herb.

--Mega Potion
Restores a moderate amount of Health. This potion is a hunter’s best friend.
-Ingredients
Honey and Potion.

--Rare Steak
Provides a small boost to your Stamina. This one’s still red in the middle.
-Creation
Cook a Raw Meat on any type of Spit with early timing.

--Well-done Steak
Provides a medium boost to your Stamina. Meat done right!
-Creation
Cook a Raw Meat on any type of Spit with precise timing.

--More Item information, coming soon...

Secrets:
-There is a secret underwater tunnel in the lake at your Base Camp that can take you directly to Area 9, but there is no way to take the shortcut back.
-In Area 1 there is a gate, through it you can see an island, presumably the village you live in from the full game is there, but you cannot pass through the gate.
-Rathian: There is a rare chance you will get to fight a true challenge in this Demo. Fight Qurupeco several times and if your lucky, he may decide to summon this massive flying Wyvern onto the island.

Glitches & Errors:
-In Classic Style 1 & 2 controls, the buttons for actions are not marked on-screen, leading to some confusion. I'll note the true buttons in the guide later.

This is an incomplete guide, other forum user additions to the guide are welcome and appreciated! If you have questions about anything, do not hesitate to ask!
